Diggerland is a theme park in County Durham based around JCB diggers. Rebecca suggested it to me as a place to take Tony's grandchildren, and it turned out to be a great hit.

They have diggers which dig in the dirt (as you'd expect), diggers set up to knock skittles over with the digger arm, and diggers with a loop on the arm to fish a wooden duck out of a pool. And all of these are usable by children as young as 5, which was convenient for us since Morgan is 5 and all of the kids could take turns.

There are also some large diggers with seats where the bucket should be, turning them into unconventional but very effective fairground rides.

I liked the fact that it wasn't slick and glossy, as a theme park in the United States would be. The whole thing had a slightly informal air, the staff were friendly, and everyone (me included) had a great time.
